Everyday Recyclables

*All of the following products MUST be clean before it is to be recycled.

1.1   Fine paper products.

a)
Trican employees are to minimize their use of the printer to reduce paper waste. When printing a "draft" copy of a document is necessary, Trican employees are to ensure that their document is printed on previously used paper, found above the printer. If there is no previously used paper, ensure that the blank paper used to print your "draft" copy is placed above the printer to be reused. When a document that is no longer needed (e.g. has errors in text, etc.) has been printed on blank paper, it is also to be placed above the printer, blank side up, to be reused.

Printer paper is NEVER to be used for note taking, unless both sides have been printed on.

If printer paper has been printed on both sides but one or both sides has not been used to its fullest, it is to be placed in the scrap paper bin as per item 1.1b. When both sides of the printer paper has been used to its fullest, it is to be placed in the white paper only blue box, located in each office.

b) Trican employees are to minimize their use of non-printer paper by maximizing their use of the computer program "Notepad" for note taking, etc. Trican employees are to also minimize their use of non-printer paper by maximizing their use of the computer program "ICQ" for communication purposes. When it is necessary to use paper, Trican employees are to use scrap paper, located in each office. Trican employees are to put all reusable non-printer paper, and reusable printer paper that cannot be reused as per item 1.1a, into the scrap paper bin located in each office.

All paper/paper products that cannot be reused (see list below) and paper that has been used to its fullest is to be then placed in the black box located under the desk, beside the coat rack.

Note: If paper is smaller than letter size (8 X 11), it must be folded within large paper, newspaper, magazines, etc. to allow for easier and neater collection.

c) Envelopes are to be considered as scrap paper, and they are to be placed in the same scrap paper bin as per item 1.1b. Once fully used, white envelopes are to be placed in white paper only blue box, located in each office and coloured envelopes are to be placed in the black box located under the desk, beside the coat rack.

1.2 Cardboard

Trican employees are to place all cardboard items (see list below) into the black box located under the desk, beside the coat rack.
Trican employees are to ensure that only cardboard/paper material ends up in the black box. For instance, packaging material often has both plastic and cardboard, so they must be separated for correct recycling.

1.3 Glass

Trican employees are to place all recyclable glass (see list below) in the blue box located
under the desk, beside the coat rack.
All glass is to be thoroughly cleaned, with lids removed, before it is placed in the blue box.

1.4 Plastics

Note: Plastic recycling will come into effect in the near future.

Trican employees are to place all recyclable plastics (see list below) into the blue box located
under the desk, beside the coat rack.
All plastic is to be clean, with lids removed, before it is placed in the blue box.

1.5 Metal

Trican employees are to place all recyclable metal (see list below) into the blue box located
under the desk, beside the coat rack.
All metal must be clean before it is placed in the blue box.

And Remember - Many, but not all, products that can be recycled, such as glass, paper or plastic, bares the recycling logo. Just take a look!
